In my opinion, every possible picture of the morning activity is already posted at this topic. I'm not spending time with posting images which someone else had posted already so I'll post my pictures of this evening.

Yes, the local pizzashop has some new customers. ("What's your address?" - "The hill!")

Dakota while taking off

Many hot air-balloons around the airfield.

After a while, when everybody was back home, the dakota turned back. After a low approach at 27, he finaly arrived at 09.

Just a question. A few moments before the field closed, someone was shooting 'lightbullets' on the field. Does somebody know what's going on?

Normal procedure when it came from the LCB27, last landing, away with the red flares!
Put in the new ones before flying starts the next day.

The reason this is done is: When a package of lightbullets is opened they have a using date of two months. As these flares are rarely used, they shoot them when the airfield closes. Otherwise you have at the end of the two months a full case of overdue bullets. This is normal procedure at (I think) all RNLAF-bases with a LCB in use. So it's actually a real waste of lightbullets.....

--------------

Roel, that first Herky shot (head on) is really a beauty! Well done!!

Best regards, Rob.

I'm sure that the flares weren't from a plane. The Dakota was landed for 4 minutes. The flares came from the southern direction of the 09-27.

LCB = Local Control Bunker.

This is the small glass bunker (mini tower) at the beginning of the runway. Mean task of the man/woman inside this bunker is to check the landinggear while landing, check for birds on final, check the aircraft for safety pins (from a distance) and be the eyes of the control tower!

These flares you see are shot from these bunkers.

Hope this clears a lot.

Best regards, Rob.
