The reason for no more Airpowers after 2009 is the transition to the Eurofighter on Zeltweg in the next years. Although in the same article is also spoken about possible new Airpowers after this transition, as it is very important for tourism in the region. About those possibilities there will be talks with the defence minister in the next days.

Not quite. The article dated February 10th isn't very clear.
"Vermutlich nach 2009 keine 'Airpower'" means No Airpower after 2009.

Then it says:
That would be translated: Due to construction work it is highly unlikely that there will be any big event like the Airpower in 2009. At the moment it is incalculable when an airshow can be held as there are safety regulations that need to be met.

All this is of course contraticted by the article dated Feb 11th confirming that there will be an Airpower.

I hope it will be.

The construction work is because of the transition to Eurofighter according to same article.

According to national TV ÖRF the Air Power 09 will be held at Zeltweg in April 2009. The last weekend of June would be more in line with previous shows.

The website is up but captured by the main sponsor: http://www.airpower09.at" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Sanicole just posted at Airshows.be that Zeltweg will be held during the same weekend as Volkel, oddly enough on Saturday and Sunday.

Just returned from a short trip to Austria (log will follow....), with visits to Linz and Tulln. Apparently the date has been fixed indeed, but a decision still has to be taken wether the show will go on or not! Time flies, and still no airshow team has been set up. Apart from that money is a problem as well.
Fingers crossed!

They still have 'the Red Bull goldmine', but now the EF2000s are in use and paid for, Eurofighter GmbH is not longer contributing. At least, that's what I heard a few weeks ago.
