EHAM 11-05-2009 MIL

Post by Stratofreighter »

Apparently this Monday morning Dakota ZA947 of the RAF's Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will drop off the Lancaster crew. It is strongly rumoured that the Lanc-crew will make a flight with PA474 shortly afterwards to test the "new engine number four", with an inspection after landing...

It is very much possible that this Saturday the 9th the Avro will be towed outside for an engine run. If not, then it should happen the following Sunday.

The crew will return to Schipol by BBMF Dakota on Monday landing at 1030 local, for an air test in the Lancaster around 1300 and then landing at Schipol to complete all paperwork and check the engine before finally returning to UK around 1630 local. They are parked on the eastern side of the airfield - plenty of car parking and we are being looked after by KLM Jet center Amsterdam.

Someone from the DDA told me the DC-3 wasn't coming due to bad weather in the UK, he also said something 'bout an MD-11 wich would carry the crew from UK to Holland.

I'm going to check Schiphol-Oost again in half an hour.

Sorry, I overlooked that when splitting. Corrected now.
I have no info on the Lancaster plans, she is not outside yet.

[unconfirmed] via the Tech-guys from the DDA,. apparently due to the same weather which is holding the RAF DC3 in the UK,. the Lancaster will stay a few more days..
