Today in the pouring rain I went on the moped to Deelen gone to see exercise Tac Blaze. When I got there I heard some Chinooks at a short distance, but saw nothing. I went to the Veteranenbos, and found a nice spot. Than, a van from Air Traffic Control especially drove to me to say that there will only be refueling in the afternoon, and that the exercise took place on the nearby Arnhem Heath. I went there, but was just too late.
I stayed there, and after a while some Mercedes G's came back, with "bad guys" in it. I walked after them into an empty field, and talked with a soldier in a radio vehicle who asked me if I wanted to stay behind a certain line. I did not understand fully why, but he said it was safer. All right.
10 minutes later I understood why, there was a Chinook so low over my head that I literally got blown away!
I had a super afternoon, just look:

Thanks to the soldiers who told me where I could take the best pictures, and where the explosive was (unfortunately it's only half the explosion on the picture ...)

Really great pictures guys! Although it does make me sad to see all this action 'in my backyard' (living in Arnhem) while I am for work in China....

Nice pics!
Are they from today? Spotted 2 Chinooks going west around 12.30. What kind of vehicle is in picture 2, is it a forklift?

Cool! That dual head-on take-off shot reminds me of the rather impressive footage of 2 RAF Chinooks in the Tombraider movie.. Well done!
