I was lucky enough to be on base at RAF Valley yesterday (02/04) with VAS for 208(R) Squadron's Centenary event.
Joining the event were two classic jet types previously operated by the unit - the most notable of which was one of Martin-Baker's seldom seen Gloster Meteor T7s!
Up until September last year, the machine was still military registered (making it the world's oldest military registered jet flying!), however it now operates on the G-register. One of two Meteors operated by MB out of their Chalgrove facility - where the jet arrived from - WA638 has over 500 live ejections (both rocket and non-rocket assisted) to 'her' name.
Just one shot of this beautiful machine arriving...

Of note is the decal the machine carries on the nose showing the company and types use in support of the F-35 and the Mk.16E seat it utilises.
Thanks for looking!

Still surprised they didn't trade it in for a Hawk or something"newer" .... Must be a pain in the ass sometimes to maintain.

Re: Martin-Baker Gloster Meteor T7 (MOD) - RAF Valley
It is all down to the position of the engine intakes being in a position which allows them to remain free from the 'firing' zone and not ingest any the smoke etc. Someone also pointed out that the 'Meteor's engines can cope better with a bird strike too. As the jets operate at low-evel when seat testing, they're more prone to bird strikes.'Alpha Kilo One wrote:Still surprised they didn't trade it in for a Hawk or something"newer" ....
