Post by Aladin »

Since I am currently on vacation close to Sion airbase in Switzerland, I would appreciatie any advice about flying days, etc.

Thanks a lot in advance!

As it seems all fighter activities in August are planned at Emmen only. Rest of the bases is closed :

All the boxes except one had Hornets so that is 7, plus one parked next to it and one went into the hangar which makes 9
Five F-5s on the flightline, plus 4 in the hangar across the road and one flying from the RUAG side which makes 10

Hornets are operating out of Emmen because of the fact that Payerne gets a new runway in August and the other jet bases (Meiringen&Sion) are closed for jets so as not to upset the tourists that month. Payerne only has a (limited) helicopter capability in August, the other bases remain open for other (propellor/rotor) traffic.
