First Serbian C295MW officially introduced
On 12 October 2023, the first of two Vazduhoplovstvo i protivvazdušna odbrana - V i PVO (Serbia Air Force and Air Defence) C295MWs transport aircraft, serial 29501 (c/n 220), was officially introduced. The aircraft was already delivered to Serbia on 25 September.
On this date, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević and Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović, visited the 138. Transportna Avijacijcka Eskadrila (138. tae, Transport Aviation Squadron) at Batajnica air base operating the new transporter. The C295MW will replace the ageing An-26.
On 23 February 2022, Scramble Magazine first reported that the Serbian Ministry of Defence ordered two Airbus C295MWs. This contract was accompanied by a Government-to-Government (G-to-G) supervision agreement between the Ministries of Defence of Spain and the Republic of Serbia, which aims to study the development of future defence programmes between both nations.
