São Pedro da Aldeia houses most of the Brazilian naval aircaft. Mostly, the aircraft are kept in their hangars. Usually, only the aircraft they are going to fly with are towed onto the ramps.
The lay-out of the air base is fairly simple. The southeast corner has a housing area blocking the view from outside. The southern ramp has the Ecureuils, Lynxes, Bell 206 and Cougars. The ramp just north of that, with three hangars, has the Seaking fleet. Lastly, the northeast big dual hangar is the home of the Skyhawk fleet with a ramp of their own.
The airfield is on the western outskirts of São Pedro da Aldeia which itself is about 150km east of Rio de Janeiro city. Normally, you will arrive by taking the Pres.Costa e Silva bridge to Niterói from Rio and proceed on the PRF/BR-101 eastward. Near Rio Bonito, take provincial highway RJ-124 to Cabo Frio. This road ends west of São Pedro in the RJ-106, follow that further eastbound. It is called Amaral Peixoto and will take you to the southwest corner of the air base.
