Halwara is a fighter base belonging to Western Command. It used to hold MiG-23s and 27s but recently also MiG-29s have been spotted here.
Complicated is a word applicable to Halwara's infrastructure. The runway is northwest to southeast and both sides feature taxiways dotted with dispersals and drive through twin shelters. There is also a taxiway running all the way to the north towards the main gate. One of the flight lines is visible from the main road on the east side. The base is entirely walled off and features watch towers.
The road to Halwara branches off from the NH95 between Ludhiana and Firozpur in the Punjab. This is in the village of Mullanpur, 18 km west-southwest of Ludhiana. Halwara Air Force Station is about 10 km down this road.
