The airport that serves Hyderabad also houses a military enclave. A new airport is planned to the south of Hyderabad but till then the international flights will still be arriving at Begumpet/Rajiv Ghandi.
The southern side of the airport holds the terminal and main ramp. On the north side, a military transport unit is based. That area is just to the northeast of what appears to be a former runway.
By car
The airport is just west of highway 7 that runs through Hyderabad and just north of Hussain Sagar lake. Approaching form the west is rather hard, there is no easy way to circumnavigate the field. Best way is to go around the eastern approach for that.
By public transport
The Multi Mode Transport System runs west of the airport. From south to north, stations Begumpet, Nature Cure Hospital, and Fatehnagar are near the airport. The first is about 1.75 km from the terminal and the latter two are within 1 km of the western approach.
