1Terminal
From the terminal, only the runway can be seen. The restaurant offers good views of runway 10 and the northern taxiway. Also, the Flankers from the south side tend to track back on the runway and can easily be spotted from the restaurant with small bins. You can only enter the terminal building with a ticket. The entrance to the restaurant is on the right hand side of the check in counter, a rather obscure red carpeted stairway leads to it. In 2009 building activities in ftont and to the side of the terminal were in progress. This may be the end of this excellent spot.
2Western approach 10, perimeter road
Driving clockwise around the airfield will bring you past the threshold of runway 10. To the southwest of that, there is a piece of barren land. There are some trees were the road crosses a small stream. However, you will still be in full sight from the road and airfield.
3Western approach 10, suburb
If you want to stay a little longer, it might be advisable to find a spot further to the west. This is a bit hard to explain, it is north of the suburbs Ardasha nagar and Vidhya nagar, and east of Kashid nagar. Anyway, there is an unpopulated area and the approaching aircraft come straight over that piece of land.
4East side approach 28
The road clockwise around the airfield is now closed off for motorized traffic, so the only way to reach the east side is from the Nagar road on the south side. After the airfield perimeter fence stops, you can make a left heading north. But this will only lead to a small village near the threshold of the old runway 32. Instead, stay on Nagar road until there is a main road to the south, a shortcut to NH-9. Continue on the Nagar road, shortly afterwards you will cross a stream and you have to make a left and go north. The entrance to this road is hard to find. It leads to a military site connected to the base and you have to navigate around that on an unpaved road. You will need to find a place in the scrubs here somewhere. The threshold is still 1 km away to the west, so they are still rather high.
5South side - apartments
Another possibility are the newly built apartment buildings to the south of the terminal. If they are accessible they might provide the height you need for the southern ramp which held/holds fourteen stored Flankers that can normally only be seen during take-off.
The suburban area south of the base offers some apartments but they are either unaccessible, wrongly placed with views obscured by foliage or other buildings.
6Southeast side - rwy 32 threshold
The road along the southeast perimeter can be reached from the Nagar road, it is the first road left after the build-up area and wall ends. This might be closed off with a chain. Anyway, this road leads north bends left along a wall and the right again into a village. From the northwestern corner of this village you are very close to the stored Flankers at the threshold of runway 32.
7From the aircraft
When runway 28 is in use a right side window view upon departure offers views of the southern ramp while the aircraft uses the runway to taxy to the threshold. Obviously, a left side window seat gives you the same opportunity for the northern ramps although the aircraft are a bit further away.
Landing on runway 28, you can also try your luck. The stored Flankers on the disused runway are also visible during final approach. The runway is too bumpy for decent photography though, it should have been resurfaced by mid-2009.
