General

The combined civil-military airfield of Marrakech is called Ménara and houses the training fleet of the Moroccan air force consisting of AS202 Bravo, T-34C Mentor, and T-37B aircraft.

Getting There

The airfield should be signposted in the city. Take the R212 southwest to Tamesloht, this will lead past the civil side of the airfield.

Around the Airport

1Eastern approach

By following the road to the airport from the city, you will cross the eastern approach.

2Terminal

At the terminal you can have some peeks over the wall. On the westernmost part of the terminal road, near the VIP terminal, you can have a look at the small ramp in fornt of the hangars on the other side of the runway. But this is still rather far away.

3South side view

Exiting the terminal area make a right and take the first large road to the left. make a right and keep heading to your left until you reach a three way crossing, make a right there. Follow this road when it bends westward and go right and right again. Next left. If you have succeeded you will see the airfield wall in front of you. When you look over the wall, you will be staring straight at the ramps with T-34s. They are both head and tail on, not ideal but better than nothing!

4Southwest side view

From the terminal take the same road to the left as described above but follow this one a bit further taking the third road to your right, at the stop sign. You will reach a larger road, make a left and keep on following this road westward until it becomes a dual carriage way. Make a right just before that. You should now be on the road that eventually passes the western approach. From this place you can see the T-37 in the distance.

5Western approach, north side view

Following the road passing the treshold of runway 10, you can take a small dirt track right. This leads past the wall and into a small village. From this dusty place you can observe some of the movements, you are however in full sight of the local population.

6Northwest side dump

Past the open space in the village there is a soccer pitch near the airfield wall. Behind the wall there is a dump with Harvards.
