Meknes - Bassatine

1Western approach

If you take the road along the gate and follow the base counter clockwise you will pass the western approach. Opposite the road you have a good view of any aircraft on finals although you are in full sight yourself.

2South-western side

Still following the road along the base there is a small road leading towards a military compound on the southern edge of the base. From a crash gate and the sand path leading along the fence you can see the ramp in front of the big Alpha Jet hangar. Behind it are the smaller F-5 hangars, which can not be seen. Even further to the north the main ramp and flightline are situated in front of the tower. But these are markedly lower and from this spot it will be impossible to have a clear view at that area.

3North-eastern side

If you take the last road before the base perimeter starts and before you get to the main gate and head east, you will find yourself following the base clockwise between several military compounds. The northern side of the base now houses apartment buildings and the old 08/26 runway is no longer in use. Keep following the wall of the air base and you will reach open terrain again. Drive past the slums and you can see the tower and will be able to see the F-5 hangars from the front albeit at a distance. The tower and surrounding buildings and foliage near the tower area obcure most of the flightline.

4Eastern approach

Still going eastbound you reach an asphalt road again that bends around the base. You will probably be able to find a spot in the farmland on the east-side somewhere.
