This Spanish helicopter training base is located south east of Granada, close (or better in) the town of Armilla. Both reading and photography is surprisingly good here.
Armilla is a very large base offering enough space for training helicopters to stay 'above' the base. All infrastructure is on the eastern part of the base while the western part is open space for training.
The easiest way of getting here is by travelling the A44 highway and exiting at 'Armilla'. If you head towards Armilla from this exit you will automatically end up at the main gate of the base.
Although you are facing the sun and have to deal with a 3 m high fence, photography is not impossible at spot 1. Jan Willem Verdonk shows it with this photo of two hovering EC120s.
