General

NOLF Coupeville was commissioned for use by the US Navy in 1943. It currently supports day and night Field Carrier Landing Practice (FCLP) operations by the US Navy's EA-18G Growler. Prior to the EA-18G being the only tailhook aircraft stationed at NAS Whidbey, the EA-6B Prowler, A-6 Intruder and the A-3 Skywarrior were also supported for carrier landing practice out of the OLF. Coupeville NOLF is attended 0800LT-0000LT during weekdays, activated by the published Field Carrier Landing Practice Schedule and/or NOTAM. Stay behind the concrete blocks at all times.

This small airport has one runway 14/32 and one taxiway on the east side.

Getting There

From Whidbey Island NAS, it is a half hour drive to Coupeville NOLF.Take Route 20 to the south towards Coupeville. After passing the city of Coupeville, you make a right turn and will see the airport at your right.

Around the Airport

1Beginning of Runway 14

At Road 20 take a right onto W Patmore Road and take the first left and park on the west side of Keystone Hill Road. Position yourself to have a good shot onto landing Growlers.

2Touchdown Zone Runway 14

Driving onto Keystone Hill Road, park at the west side of the road near the touch down zone. You may cross the road and walk up onto the concrete blocks if needed.

3Mid Runway 14/32

Continue driving onto Keystone Hill Road and park your car mid runway, where the tree line stops. Park at the westside and position yourself. Again if needed you can walk up onto the concrete blocks.

4Touchdown Zone Runway 32

At road 20, continue past the USN gate and park at the east side past the storage area. There is a small dirt road for parking. You may cross the road and walk up onto the concrete blocks if needed.
