Confession - I am a little ( about 10 years ) behind with my logging ! However , one question I would like to clear : at this superb USN airshow I did pretty well with the static , F-18 store ( thanks to a tour of the depot ) ,carriers etc but on the most westerly pan next to the exit road were park...
This Centenial for USMC Aviation falls at the end of May next year . Has anybody picked up any rumours of a show along the lines of North Island this year ?
The F-18 with the black / red fins was still on board the Reagan in late January. All I noted was the code 76 on the fin . Regarding the other F-18's on base in September, my listing posted in early Feb may help ?
Thanks for all the lists. The only aircraft not covered to date were the displaced, based SH-60's ( about 35 in number ) parked on the large West ramp. Did anybody read them off ?
Re-checking the excellent flypast listing posted earlier, there are in fact a few helos missing. After the pair of Ospreys there were 4 x UH-1's and 4 x AH-1's ( not 2 of each ) plus there were 12 x ch-46's ( not 10 ). Any ideas ?
Noted prior to the show were the following F-18's outside , next to the flight line : 164966 401 163992 164672 09 164726 00 164250 307 164210 302 162470 ? 43 164960 164908 402 164976 403 166856 XE white fins EA-18G ? 166426 165933 164068 164718 166463 165905 ? 333/VFA-126 163135 166819 166645 164013...
SH-60's were very tightly packed so even stood next to them ,couldn't read them all; 166309 26 165745 10 166369 165769 166340 166292 166307 ? 04 ? 22 ? 15 ? 17 Sorry can't help with the F-18, I was too busy trying to just record the serials let all the mod programme production numbers. I do however ...
Gaps ? What gaps ? That is an excellent list, thanks very much. I assume you were at Miramar for the launch ?I was there on the Friday but a little constrained as to access to the ramp but I will check if I recorded any of your queries. It was possibly the best display I have seen in 50 years of spo...
If we are talking the same place ( i.e the compound alongside the road to the ANG base ) then when I drove past it last week , it contained a single-seat F-101 marked 32418 ( making it the first prod. aircraft ?? ) plus 2x F-89 ( one assembled , the other with wings off ) plus an H-34 . I don't thin...
Regarding the museum , they seem happy to show round individuals or groups if you write well in advance. Certainly last July the air force guys were very friendly on the visit. As for the rest, there are clearly large numbers of aircraft in the storage and scrapping areas ( or there were last summer...
