Wittmund will close for three weeks (18 june - 6 july) due to runway repairs. Aprox. 14 F-4F Phantoms (and the A-4 skyhawks) will deploy to Jever for the duration.

A Lockheed T-33A (N132GB) made a precautionary landing at Twenthe today. The aircraft was enroute from Billund, via Nordholz to Niederrhein for a fuel stop. Final destination is Hahn. The aircraft had an electrical failure and had no radio contact with any ATC station.
Teh main runway 05/23 is closed till the end of this year. The paralell runway 05R/23L is in use. The field is PPR so there will not be many visitors or practice approaches!
Been there in 2008, the nice thing is that they have normal flying operations on Friday and Monday. Not all bases are suitable for photography on Friday and Monday but at Larissa they pass just in front of you when they taxi out (and in).
