If anybody wondered why Ramstein is currently short of C-5 Galaxies : they are all in Rota, Spain. During my recent holiday over there you could generally spot at least 10 C-5's on base (though difficult to count due to the distance and even impossible to read off the serials). It is very clear that Ramstein is the base to spot C-17's but unfortunately their big old brother has now found a base in Southern Spain (where the beaches are lovely !). I have taken a few pictures whilst being on the beach so have been able to write down a few serials but other then that the base is likely one of the worst in the whole of Europe to spot (unless you want to stand in the burning sun all day - along a busy road).
If any wants any tips, let me know.
Cheers,
:( Galaxylover

You CAN read the C-5s off ar Rota from different places,it is better in the early morning or late evening. There are places you can keep out of sight of "the opposition" and read the approach on both runway 10 and 28.

Hot?,you should try my homebase in Thailand!.

I believe that there was a base exercise last week at Ramstein. Maybe this has something to do with some diversions to Rota.
