Sommige vluchten zullen uitvallen, voorspelt AVV.
Zij werden ontslagen toen Martinair in 2014 opging in KLM,

Lagere winst Martinair ondanks hausse in luchtvrachtmarkt
JAARCIJFERS

https://www.nt.nl/luchtvracht/2023/01/1 ... achtmarkt/The sharply decreasing result can be attributed, among other things,
to higher wage costs and a lower number of flying hours that the company performed for KLM, its only customer.
For example, the number of block hours fell by 3% to 16,454.
In total, Martinair's cargo flights generated a turnover of 214 million euros,
compared to 217 million euros in 2020.
Maintenance for KLM Cityhopper aircraft also amounted to 22.4 million euros (2020: 21.6 million).
This maintenance is carried out by RJC, a subsidiary of Martinair.
The total turnover (236.4 million euros) was the lowest of the past five years for Martinair.
This is striking given that the 2021 financial year was characterized by high freight volumes and revenues.
For example, the freight turnover of client KLM doubled that financial year.
The fact that, according to the annual report,
Martinair Cargo has not benefited from this is
because the cargo company only receives a reimbursement of the costs
plus a small surcharge for its transport services for KLM.
Cartel fine
The wage costs for the 407 Martinair employees, including 90 cargo pilots and 64 ground employees,
rose by 6.7 million euros in 2021 to more than 40 million euros.
This increase was mainly due to the reduction of NOW compensation that year.
In addition, there were extra one-off costs for the purchase of a jet engine (3.3 million euros) for a cargo jumbo,
and Martinair's books also contain a provision of 16.5 euros for a cartel fine
(including interest) imposed by the European Commission in connection with past price fixing.
KLM and Martinair have lodged an objection against this fine with the European Court.
A decision has not yet been made by that Court.
Martinair has not made any provision for a civil lawsuit of more than 1450 shippers in connection with the same price agreements.
This case has been going on for more than twelve years.
In addition to the increased costs and falling income,
Martinair Cargo also had a windfall of 6.8 million euros in the books in 2021.
That amount of money comes from a settlement with the Schiphol Group
about a long-running dispute about the use of the old hangar 32 at Schiphol-East.
That hangar had become redundant in 2014 due to the contraction of Martinair's cargo fleet.
Another small windfall was the lower tax assessment of 5.6 million euros (2020: 7.2 million euros).
Rental contract extended
Martinair has also extended the lease for three B747-400ERFs owned by KLM in 2021 for an amount of more than 50 million euros.
Together with its own B747-400ERF,
which has been grounded at Miami Airport since the end of last year/dec2022

with major damage to the wings, the trio forms the cargo fleet of Martinair Cargo.
The management of Martinair is silent in all languages about a possible fleet renewal,
which was already announced in the middle of last year by the parent holding company of Air France KLM.
Martinair Cargo also saw a strong improvement in group equity, according to the annual report.
This has now risen to 126 million euros in 2021.
Five years ago, the equity position of the freight company was considerably less generous at 58 million euros.
