On one of the other platforms sat LX-N90459. This is the first NATO E-3 that has undergone the Final Life Extension Program (FLEP). Eventually ten out of the fourteen remaining E-3's will undergo this modernization program before the E-7's take over between 2030 and 2035.
The Alaska ANG is providing tanker support until the end of this week. They will be followed up by the Hawaiian ANG.

Contrary to other ANG units the Alaska tankers don't carry the name of their operating base in the tailband but names of Alaskan villages. These names are chosen by some sort of commitee as a kind of bonding practise with the ANG.
