From Geilenkirchen to Leipzig?
Would expect an airfield a bit closer than that...
Did it make an overshoot or just fly over Geilenkirchen? Must be a beautiful sight :?

Indeed it was very strang as we were not expecting it.
We just turned around to see the giant Antonov hanging on finals with gear down but no intention to land. It passed the field at around 1 km height. Later it cirkeled somewhat in the east before it climbed and turned away.
Very strange indeed but better for us because it did not block the taxiway :)

Just overhead Mönchengladbach, inbound Geilenkirchen an unknown E-3. I am pretty sure it wasn't a NATO one. This one did not make the familiar E-3A sound, and was without smoke. (I see enough Nato Awacses fly over my work, so I know this one was different)

Anyone got a clue?

regards,

Michel

This week there are 2 USAF E-3s flying (all) over Europe. So might be one of them.

Kind regards,
Oscar

One is "based" at Waddington. This one should also be there for the airshow. so i think it will be the other.
