Ah, nostalgia, such a wonderful thing. Although not a slide-shooter myself, (and not that active a shooter on the whole) I do remember the evenings of watching slides on the big screen with my dad. He still has several boxes of slides, and I remember vividly the sheer excitement of waiting what would pop up next once the loud clicks of changing slides had started. As a 7 year old boy my sport (in the beginning) was to guess the type and airline as fast as possible (yes, most slides were civil) and run around the living room after getting 5 in a row. I guess those evenings brought me to a point where I wanted to be a spotter as well. We offer a fine opportunity to exchange slides at our Dutch Spotters Conventions (organised together with Airnieuws).
