Again some oldies from Soesterberg. A glance from those days when it was strictly prohibited to take pictures of military aircraft.

Image
Scan from one of my first Dagger pics in colour. This is a restored negative. I took the picture in September 1962 at Soesterberg AB. Photo Dick Barendregt, collection Joosen.

Image
Col. Walsh’s commanders aircraft 61032 featured a red, white and blue ribbon behind its canopy. The patch on the air-intake indicates that the 32nd FIS Delta Daggers won the William Tell Meet in the F-102 class. June 1966.

Image
Dagger 61002 has just retracted its gear. The main doors are still closing. June 1966.

Image
The squadron also had a number of T-birds in use, for instrument training and target towing purposes. One of the most often spotted T-33A’s was the 34958. June 1966.

Image
Though TF-102A 41370 was camouflaged, the pilots helmets proudly showed the Dutch red, white and blue. June 1966.

Image
This Dagger, which was - regarding its sticker - also present at the William Tell Meet, shows how the paint (Air Defence Gray) was worn out after a few months of flying. The small fan beneath the fuselage is the Auxiliary Power Unit. June 1966.

Grtz,
Dick

Wolfhounds

Post by Dick Hunter »

Yep, those were the days.
But when I look at all the beautiful pics in this forum-thread
(especially the F-106's, of course! ), I regret I stopped spotting in 1968 ...

Image
Dagger 60982 on static display during the open house of June 17th 1967 at Soesterberg AB. Photo Dick Barendregt, collection Ragay.

Image
Crewchiefs of the 32nd Fighter Interceptor Squadron were present to tell more about the Daggers and the Wolfhounds during the open day.

Image
Same day, same Dagger, different corner.

Image
Also on display was one of the AIM-4D Falcon rockets.

Image
One of the camouflaged Daggers on duty one year earlier, June 1966. Photo Dick Barendregt, collection Ragay.

Image
August 1965. Dagger 60985 with a plain grey tail, but a beautiful painted air-inlet. The pilot wears a helmet with a conventional visor. Photo Dick Barendregt, collection Ragay.

Image
Dagger 61032 with chute seen from a great distance. For this shot I used a 135mm Hanimar with 2x convertor. (In those days 270mm was quite a lot!). June 1966.

Pictures 1, 2, 3 and 4 from the open house on June 17th 1967 are Fuji slides. The other ones are Agfa CT-18.

Grtz,
Dick

Sorry for the red crosses in the Dick Hunter-parts of this forumthread. It looks like my provider is not capable to get my website (and websites from many other people) back on line this weekend.
