Although I still haven't mastered the art of Kodachrome slide-scanning I use the following software in my workflow:Hans Rolink wrote:Nice ones Jeroen. Thanks for sharing.
Besides, did you de-noise them? If so with what software?
Hans.
Hi Jeroen, jeroenow wrote: Although I still haven't mastered the art of Kodachrome slide-scanning I use the following software in my workflow:
- scanning in Silverfast
- output TIFF to Apple Aperture 2 where I use the plug in Nik Dfine for noise reduction and Nik Sharpener for sharpening
- the rest of the process is also in Apple Aperture 2
Anyone a different (i.e. better or handier) workflow who is willing to share it with me, with us???
cheers Jeroen
Thanx for the input... I will work on itKey wrote:Agree with above. Anti-grain/noise has to be handled very carefully. That way you won't have to compensate with sharpening that much either. Bit of a blue cast, I think. Something wrong with the shadows, too. Used AACO in Silverfast?
Other than that: fine!
Great operational shots!
Erik
Honestly, I don't know. I just happened to be testing SilverFast this week, and this feature is about the only one I did not get useful results with. Most of the other tools I like after getting used to the interface. The effect I got, and also see in your pics, is similar to overcorrecting with curves.jeroenow wrote:Yes, I am using AACO but moderately... but obviously I should be even more careful with it or Erik should I deactivate it???
No, it's a long and hard way, significantly more difficult than processing digital originals from modern cameras, but we're glad to be of helpjeroenow wrote:Thanx again Erik (and Hans and Dino of course) for your input...
Mastering the art of scanning isn't that easy
I think you did with this MiG.23UB. Nice deatil in the grass, no noise to speak of, no cast, well done!jeroenow wrote:One day I will manage it, I hope...
