Latest METAR says due westerly wind at 8 knots, so a missed approach (and climb out..) on RWY27 makes more sense than coming down on finals for RWY09. While still speculating, the fact that apparently no (big) fires broke out may suggest fuel starvation, which would be very strange indeed. FDR should tell in due course...
Very sad indeed.

Don't worry, by posting a message, it's normal to me that everyone should be able to respond.
aviodromefriend wrote: we don't know much enough about the AF incident, AFAIK no report has been published, CVR and FDR are still not found etc. to talk about any simularity between the incidents. Except for a lawyer thinking about lots of money to be earned (partly for himself) in court. The man was not only getting himself publicity in the Teleblaat, he was also pushing/spamming himself on TV yesterday night.
I agree fully to the content of your post. I posted a rather simular message in the off topic part, which is in Dutch.

stranger things have happened lads, but indeed some more :respect: is required.

any complaints?, may I suggest you post them (also) to the editorial addresses of the TV-stations and papers, because just posting it only here is not enough to make a diffrence and maybe, a better world.

regarding lawyers, or if you will, the 'profiteers', or 'vultures' these chaps would not stand a chance, if airlines and manufacturers and their respective insurance companies would be dealing swift, fair and honest in handling damage cases. We all know that reality is often far from that.
We do not even have to look across borders to find how totally absurd such cases are actually dealth with. Where is the respect there!? Seems there's none whatsoever! One wonders who is the profiteer, or are they all akin

I thought they had "located" the CVR and FDR but where not sure if they would be recoverable due depth?

They had calculated that there was a chance that the recorders were at a location outside the current search area. This was the location with the 5km fault margin. But they have searched that area, without any result.

The Libyan report has been released, with the following findings.
Based on elements from the investigation, the accident resulted from:
  • The lack of common action plan during the approach and a final approach continued below the MDA, without ground visual reference acquired.
The inappropriate application of flight control inputs during a go- around and on the activation of TAWS warnings,
The lack of monitoring and controlling of the flight path.
These events can be explained by the following factors:
  • Limited CRM on approach that degraded during the missed approach. This degradation was probably amplified by numerous radio-communications during the final approach and the crew’s state of fatigue,
Aircraft control inputs typical in the occurrence of somatogravic perceptual illusions,
Inappropriate systematic analysis of flight data and feedback mechanism within the AFRIQIYAH Airways.
Non adherence to the company operation manual, SOP and standard terminology.
In addition, the investigation committee found the following as contributing factors to the accident:
  • Weather available to the crew did not reflect the actual weather situation in the final approach segment at Tripoli International Airport.
In adequacy of training received by the crew.
Occupancy of tower frequency by both air and ground movements control.
A rather good (i.e. very few, if any, unsupported conclusions) interpretation in Dutch is here: http://nos.nl/artikel/479349-tripolicra ... uctie.html

Crew Resource Management, see

In Dutch: heel "simplistisch" is dit "samenwerking in de cockpit". Of het gebrek daaraan... :(
