Today in the afternoon 4 Flankers flew (at least) 2 missions, making some very nice overshoots/flyby's at Orange as well (and the Singaporese F16's overflew Istres although a bit high...).

Do not stay too long at spot 1 and 2 (be very careful with photos, you are in direct sight of the tower) , within 5 minutes you will see the Gendarmerie :(
Spot 3 is OK

Does anybody know, which KC-135 were at Istres the 14th june in the morning? I counted at least 6 while flying above the base on my way back home: One next to the Indians, then 3 next to each other on the ramp, 2 others on the ramp next to the runway.

Another C-135 (?) was parked half inside a hangar next to the 3 KC-135, and one C-160 was visible.
Also one other grey plane was parked on the ramp behind the IL-76/78s.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi Joris,
We parked our car near the orchard at spot 2 all morning on 11th June. We had no trouble from the Gendarmerie and were taking photos along the track beside the orchard which leads to the fence. We did not go right up to the fence though but we did stand in the long grass in the open. There were also a couple of local French photographers there.
By keeping in the line of the orchard you are hidden from the tower and I guess that is why we did not attract any attention.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Rod

Noted during the morning of 11th June were the following:-

TBM-700 95/XH
AS-555 (5458)/VV
KC-135FR 472/93-CC
Rafale M-02
Mirage 2000 (95)/103-KM
Mirage 2000 124/103-YT
Dyn Aero F-WUAV
AS-555 5455/VT

KC-135FR 474/93-CE
Mirage 2000N 360/125-CB special marks 70 Ans
KC-135FR 525/93-CN

Also arriving were the previously reported Su-30's, 2 x IL-78's and IL-76.

There were at least another 5 x 2000N's which we could not read off as they landed due to heathaze.
There was also a CEV Mirage 2000D which was uncoded.
If anyone can help with these ones it would be appreciated.

Thanks
Rod

Hi Lutz,
The grey plane behind was an Atlantic. I took several photos as we flew over on the way home.
If anyone knows which one I would be pleased to hear from them.
Cheers

Thanks you for sharing this information. One question left. While standing in the open (in the long grass) were you only taking pictures of the aircraft while airborne or were you able to shoot some taxi/runway shots?

Thanks in advance for the additional information.

Goodevening guys, just an information. We'll be probably coming down there next sunday; what about the floods around Trans-en-Provence zone? Are there any consequencies about it? Do you know if the main roads are available?

Thank you so much

Hi,

I heard some rumours about the Indian Flankers wearing fake serials.
Can anyone confirm this? Or is it just a new batch of aircraft.
Perhaps anyone can check the c/n when close by.

Anyone any idea which squadron they belong to?

Best regards, Rob.

Airbourne only. You would need steps if you want to shoot on the taxiway as there is a fence.

Hope this helps

Hi Arjen and others,

A few questions I hope some of you can answer.

Can you confirm that the Rafale and three AS555 were on the platform near the tower? (On Wednesday there were 6 Rafales on this platform, also not read off...)

Was Alpha Jet E60 the one flying at 13:00?

Around 13:00 Four Flankers came back with three Mirage 2000's. Does anyone know the Mirage serials?

Any help would be appreciated!

Jelle
