Hi Joris,Do not stay too long at spot 1 and 2 (be very careful with photos, you are in direct sight of the tower) , within 5 minutes you will see the Gendarmerie
Spot 3 is OK
Hi Lutz,Also one other grey plane was parked on the ramp behind the IL-76/78s.

We parked our car near the orchard at spot 2 all morning on 11th June. We had no trouble from the Gendarmerie and were taking photos along the track beside the orchard which leads to the fence. We did not go right up to the fence though but we did stand in the long grass in the open. There were also a couple of local French photographers there.
By keeping in the line of the orchard you are hidden from the tower and I guess that is why we did not attract any attention.
Hope this helps.

Rod
Airbourne only. You would need steps if you want to shoot on the taxiway as there is a fence. Thanks you for sharing this information. One question left. While standing in the open (in the long grass) were you only taking pictures of the aircraft while airborne or were you able to shoot some taxi/runway shots?
Thanks in advance for the additional information.
The KC-135 near the Indians is RSAF 753, confirmed Tuesday and this morning.Jon Snow wrote:Does anybody know, which KC-135 were at Istres the 14th june in the morning? I counted at least 6 while flying above the base on my way back home: One next to the Indians, then 3 next to each other on the ramp, 2 others on the ramp next to the runway.
Another C-135 (?) was parked half inside a hangar next to the 3 KC-135, and one C-160 was visible.
Also one other grey plane was parked on the ramp behind the IL-76/78s.
Any help would be much appreciated!
