The latest weather forecast issued within the last few hours(as of 10.45 UTC 14th July) calls for heavy rain on both Saturday and Sunday. The forecast for Friday is good.
no matter what the weather is or will be like - this is the most dissappointing edition of RIAT in my eyes ever regarding number and quality of participants - Zeltweg, Koksijde and Yeovilton provided more interesting aircraft in my eyes and that for less or no money! RIAT should loose its "Royal" status as it has become nothing more than any average airshow. Happy that I made just Yeovilton and returned back home immediately afterwards. RIAT - what a ==censored==!
Then next year you will be happy when some more aircraft will turn up. It is not possible to "peak" every year, especially with ops like Libya going on.
...............and as we can all buy e-tickets until 21.00 tonight perhaps it will be prudent to wait until 'now' next year to see weather and ACTUAL participation list !
I beg to differ, the cost is what it is, last year..... next it will not change if you want to go you pay! If you prefer VL, Koksidje etc then go.
Perhaps the next free German airshow will be the one we all head for?
I for one enjoyed the 40 plus RAF aircraft, Saudi Hawks, Ukraine Su-27, IL-76, Turks, Dutch, Germans, USAF, US Navy Swedish, Danish, Belgians, Austrians, French, looked like everybody else did too! I made 10 and was happy!
Weather very strong wind from the West, thunder and a great deal of lightning lol x
Went on Saturday and OVERALL it was a good day.
Dissapointed that the solo Turk did'nt display though.....did it do so yesterday anyone please, thanks.
Ah, ain't life great... all these choices you can make.. for yourself! If you want to go, or if don't want to go, don't bother telling.. make a choice, stick by it and keep to yourself whether or not you regret that afterwards. In the case of RIAT: you can't control the entry fee, you can't control who's there and who's not and you most certainly can't control the weather.. so it's not much use moaning about either of them. It's quite simple really, if you are unhappy about any of these things, stay at home (or go somewhere else). I hope everyone made the decision that was right for him or her, and if not, there's always another moment to make a fresh choice.. or am I being too philosophical now?

You are probably right but calling theirself the host of the largest military airshow which suggests the presence of many military aircraft both on the ground and in the air.
Maybe they should change their motto to "RAF Fairford - Annual International Military Airshow" or just "RAF Fairford - for a nice day out" with music, hot-air balloons and presence of (military) aircraft.
The complete package was disappointing this year (the entrance fee multiplied by number of aircraft present multiplied by the wow-factor multiplied by number of highlights / f/v). Of course there are circumstances out of control of the show organsers like Libya, Financial Crisis etc, but it would be nice if the organisation should taken this into account as well and give a clear statement in advance.
