Nice shots; interesting to see an F-16 operating without the ubiquitous missile rails on the wingtip.

Thanks.

The 870 is indeed the cleanest configuration possible. Not seen very often these days.

This is actually the first time I see this. Not just without missiles or dummy's at the wingtip, but without the rails.
Answers will be questioned.....

Did J-870 fly, or was it a high speed taxi run?

Judging on the config of 870 (lack of slats, minimum flaps, exhaust nozzle position) I would say a high speed taxi run.

Could it be that this airframe was in maintenance? I recall that the F-16 is not certified to fly without rails as they act as winglets/ vortex breakers.
But I may be mistaken...

Slats, or leading edge flaps as we call them.. do not move while on the ground. Once in the air (weight of wheels) LEF's will move. at the ground their position is 2 degrees up, as shown.
Minimum Flaps... This is the normal position for the Flaperons while on the ground, again once Weight of wheels, flight control system detects it is of the ground and will manage the correct settings of flight controlss for the maximum lift at any time of the flight. Nothing is done by pilot. Basiscly, your conclusion that it was a high speed taxi run can not be made by looking at the flight controls.
