The article doesn't mention. Since they were seen at Moody, I think they are either taken up by the 23rd Wing, or just being borrowed?

In the last AFM a spokesman from the 52nd FW says the SP A-10's are TDY at Moody.

On the other hand, I can imagine that probably also a couple of pilots have rotated out of the squadron allready.

81-0981 arrived Wednesday at Charleroi. Bit strange that they still send them to Belgium for overhaul a couple fo months before their disbandment.

And why is that strange ? The disbandment of the unit self, doesn't mean it's aircraft will be send on a one way ticket to the boneyard.
Perhaps it will soldier on with another unit.

Contract probably signed a long while ago. With cancellation clauses usually written into such contracts, the cost of not converting or overhauling these airplanes as planned would be nearly as much as actually proceeding with the contract on schedule.

The A-10 should be flying for some years to come in the States and Korea,so these airplanes should be around for a while yet.

There are still 14 A-10's left. In february some four will go to Portugal for a one week exercise, flying from Monte Real AB.
