M346 / Lavi for the IAF

Pictured arriving yesterday 06Nov at Hatzerim AFB for the official acceptance ceremony, one of 30 Alenia Aermacchi 346 two-seaters which will gradually replace A-4 Skyhawks as stage three (after Grob G.120 and Ratheon T-6A) trainers for the Israel Air Force. Ordered in cooperation with industrial partners and to be operated on a "power by the hour" basis the new aircraft will be known as the Lavi (Lion Cub) in Israeli service.

Other aircraft noted so far are 102 (CSX55170), 103 (55171), 104 (55172 - Not yet seen is Israel) and 108 (55173)

Nice catch. I saw on offic.IAF website a picture of Lavi 102 applied with a 102 Tayeset tiger badge.

It´s already been done Maurits, if you check out The Avionist.com in March 2013 and/or Fresh.co.il and scroll down to the M346 link you´ll see two versions, one by Al Clark (who at least got the serial right) and one by Raanan. Neither had the DAYGLO ladders beloved of Dutch photographers ....

They rather photoshop al the registrations. Saves them Some travelling :-)!
