REQ: spotting at Ghedi

Turkish Stars NF5A/B no. 4, 5 and 6 landed at Ghedi 1945.

Yesterday during the many hours waiting for the Turks, Italian spotters provided more insight in the procedures at Ghedi.

Mondays and Tuesdays there a 3 waves of Tornados:  morning 10-13, afternoon 14-17 evening/night approx 21-22h. Count on approximately 4-6 aircraft.
Wednesday and Thursday only 2 waves during morning and afternoon. Due to less waves you could expect more aircraft; up to 9.
Friday only flying in the morning.

Normally all landings are on runway 31, all take offs from 13. This is due to noise restrictions for the town west of thr base.
This procedure is kept as long as tailwind does not exceeds 10 knots.
TACAN and ILS only available for runway 31.
Cables on both sides.

Construction work on a taxiway probably let to the decision to let the local Tornados land in the opposite direction Monday afternoon and Tuesday. It is so rare the it led the local spotters stunned. Construction work might continue for some time.

Finally: if you hear a sirene and an announcement via speakers at the base it usually means a Tornado is in trouble. A few minutes later you may expect two Tornados arriving holding hands at runway 31. The Tornados are old and this happens almost every day.

Just a very short observation, I was there about a hundred years ago. Around lunchtime a whole bunch of locals turned up with their picnics and instamatics ..... and of course, the morning mission returned, then the afternoon launch occurred, after which they - the locals - disappeared. It was quite warm, and I was in a rag-top, she who must be obeyed not best pleased.

I did not see any police but I kept well out of sight.

For instance: From the SP66, after passing the base in southerly direction, turn left on a dirt road (kiezelweg) between two concrete barriers. Just enough space to pass by car. After 500m or so there is a site where obscure stuff and trash is dumped. Park your car there and go on foot via the dump site to the corn field behind it.
Follow the south side of the corn field in southwesterly direction until the end. There you see a long stretched field with trees that provide plenty of shadow to stay. This is behind the high wall (north of it) and provides excellent photo opportunities for landing and take off.

Ghedi Monday 7-8-2017

I arrived at Ghedi 1345. It was as sunny afternoon with modest wind from the east, approx 15 km/h (so below the 20km/h limit for tailwind landings on rwy31; and indeed they flew normal).

1445 takeoff 6-32 and 6-11 from rwy13; high initial, break, final+landing rwy31 at 1606.

1458 takeoff 6-77 from rwy13; 1611 sirenes + speaker announcement "Attenzione .. voli"; 1616 emergency landing straight in on rwy31.

1543 takeoff 6-61 (sharke mouth) from rwy13. Returned with high initial, performed a low pass and finally landed on rwy31 at 1709.

So far my Ghedi spotting for this summer holiday. All others going there next week(s): good luck and please post logs of what you see.

Hello, identified this morning were Tornadoos 6-44 + 6-62 + 6-07 + 6-32 + 6-27. These deparyed around 10.24 and came back after some 1.5 hour later.
More were seen but nog read off because of the heathaze.

Because of the heathaze no mm's were noted. Anyone can tie them up for me please.
