Monday 31-7-2017

First take off this morning at 1055: Tornado 6-11 from rwy 13.

1120 two Tornados from rwy 13: 6-24 and 6-55.
From the corn field southeast of the field, north of the approach lights, the view was good early in the morning. But now there is only some sun on the side of the aircraft if it banks south a little after take off.

1138 takes off from 6-57 from rwy 13. Sun wa straight ahead of the aircraft so useless.
Afterwards the runway changes to 31.

1140 6-11/MM7058 makes several approaches on rwy31, until landing at 1150 (sun straight behind aircraft).

At 1233 sirenes went off at the base and an announcement was made via speakers. Sounded like "Attenzione returni di volta" so something like "attention flights return". Anyway 10 minutes later 6-55/MM7004 and 6-24/MM7064 approach rwy31 holding hands. 6-24 lands and 6-55 makes another round before touchdown 1248.

The latest to return from the morning wave was 6-57. 1256 low pass rwy31, again 1300 and 1303. Landed 1307.

Afternoon wave:

1450 6-10 (nothing under wings) and 6-11 (two underwing tanks)  take off rwy13

1502 6-74 take off rwy13. This bird was loaded with underwing tanks and rockets.

c1600 till 1625
A single Tornado starts orbiting slow and high  above Ghedi. Strange.

1650 finally an unidentified Tornado lands at other side of the field on rwy13 (=wrong side).
No sight of the others.

Afterwards I heard that a Tornado had broken down and diverted to Istrana. Hence the afternoon wave did not return completely.

Also no sign of the Turkish Stars yet. Elsewhere in this forum I read they were stil in Malaga today.

Ghedi 1-8-2017

In the morning c 1115 1x Tor, c 1145 2x Tor and c 1215 1x Tornados flew low over Desenzano at Lake Garda. Due southwest, seamingly returning to base.

1400, arriving early at Ghedi for the expected Turkish Stars, I captured the local Tornado's departing for their afternoon wave:

1408 take off 2x Tor from rwy 13: 6-74 and 6-73. Both with underwing tanks and missiles.

1413 1x Tor 6-45 only underwing tanks.
Returned for a low pass on rwy31 (so opposite direction) at 1420.
