"Retro" is used for flights returning to the US. "Trend" is used for transatlantic deployment flights in general. In the past "Slip" was also used for flights heading to the Middle East but I believe this callsign has become obsolete.

Hi,

Retro is used both ways and also for delivery flights.

They also use Heron (again) as ferry flight (LN F-15s departed LN this tuesday to US using Heron).

delivery flights

Post by raameagle »

Gips and all,

I suspect 811 is for the Air Force of Oman and will be delivered along with the others to save an extra flight on it's own involving more tankers etc.

As for callsigns, RETRO, TREND, SLIP, CUBE, MAZDA and ZESTY have all been used for ferry flights with HURON now being used as well.

Regards

Mark

F-16C 811 was according to F-16.net already delevered on 18.08.2006 to 18Sqna of the RAFO. So it is a RAFO serial. A picture of this aircraft can be found at http://www.f-16.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

811

That doesn't mean it was actually delivered to Oman though. I recall seeing one at Edwards last year but until I check my list I can't confirm which one it was.

Just a sidenote: is CLAN still used? Always liked that one.
Answers will be questioned.....

It was still wearing the USAF symbol. The serial 811 was very small close to it!!

Hi! Nice reports have been posted here!

I'd like to make a small correction, though.
Esq.711 was disbanded some time ago and since then the actual C-212 and EH101s at Lages are manned by Esq.401 and 751 detachments, respectively.
