Well, going by my experiences last year. I'm not quite sure about the parking permit. We arrived at some ungodly hour while it was still dark and parked in the public car park, near the chairlift,paying in coins at the machine. Apparently, an hour or so later, the local authorities set up a pay station at the very bottom of the hill, near the motorway and took a small charge from everyone going up - they were then able to park in the fields etc around the village. In order to bring your car further up the hill (past the bottom of the chairlift) along the service road, it is probably necessary to have some kind of permit. It looked like there were plenty of spaces in the fields and there was one massive traffic jam at the end of the day. Bear in mind that most of the locals only arrive for the afternoon display.
Regards timing, the flying starts about 08:30ish. If the chairlift starts running around 07:30, you probably wont be up in time for the first few runs but the flying continues for most of the morning, so its up to you whether you want to see every single run or not. Also we were told that the path to the main viewing area closed at 08:00 for safety reasons. This was not actually correct, they opened and closed it as appropriate during the firing runs - when there was no firing, they opened it back up again. This is of course relevant since the food and beer tent is in this area!!!!
All this is of course based on LAST YEAR but I see no reason why it should be different this time.

I'll just listen for the sound of salsa music from your camp. My wife has bought a bright pink waterproof jacket for the climb so she should be quite easily recognised. She's also about 30cm shorter than me so I think you'll recognise us. We'll be the ones gasping for oxygen.
