General

On the outskirts of Brasschaat, just south of the Dutch border, this small airfield can be found. Until June 2006 it used to be home to the Army Flying School. Nowadays the field is used for light aviation and warbirds. The latter has everything to do with FAST Aero, the company of Eric Vormezeele's son, having its base here.

Layout

The airfield is very small, all hangars and ramps are on the southeast side. The small runway is in the northwest.

Getting There

Take exit 5 from highway A1/E19 and follow directions to Brasschaat. Follow road N1 for about six kilometres. After six kilometres, take left and a immediate right (the airfield is signposted).

Around the Airport

1Near the tower

When you follow the road to the airfield, you will pass the Control Tower on the left. From this point you can view the airfield and when something is flying, nice pictures can be made from 200 mm.

2Hangars

When you follow the road back to where you came from, you can see the old hangars of the SLV which are close to the road. Also, a (limited) view of the flight line is possible. When the hangars are open, aircraft can be seen and read through the fence. Some old warbirds are still based on the airfield, so you might be able to see them.
