General

This is the civil airport of Antofagasta is the home of FACh's Grupo 8 equipped with F-16AM/BM.

Layout

The airfield is surrounded by desert. There used to be a road running just south of the airfield, B430, but this now seems part of the airport terrain. The civil terminal is in the south east, north of that is a small general aviation ramp and the north eastern part is the military airbase.

Getting There

The airfield is north of Antofagasta town on the Ruta 1. It is also accessible by rail road, Cerro Moreno station is just to the south of the airport.

1Terminal

From the terminal you can see the taxiway that runs east of the runway. Also, just south of the terminal there is an open space were you might be able to have a clearer view. The military ramps are not easily visible, the best chance is from the general aviation hangar although you will only be able to see a small part and have to gain access to the general aviation side first.

2North east side approach runway 19

North, past the military gate and the housing area, you should be able to watch the northern approach. It will be too far for photography and you will stand out in the barren land.
