1Approach 09 south side - gas station

Just south of the main gate, a gas station can be found. This is the best spot to witness aircraft on approach for runway 27L. As the runway is elevated and the threshold is way inside the airfield, aircraft on finals are still fairly high here and you will be fully visible for traffic. Still, this is probably the best spot around the airfield. Photography is best from late in the morning.

2Approach 09 south side - Vibevej

About the same result as from spot 1 can be obtained here at Vibevej. From spot 1, enter the village to the right and take the first road on your left, which is called Vibevej. Proceed until you are happy with the result. Again, aircraft will be fairly high and photography is best from late in the morning.

3Civil terminal

Karup's civil terminal currently handles about fourteen flights per day. Views can be obtained from the left side of the terminal itself. To get there from spot 1/2, take road no.467 to Arhum and turn left at the Karup Airport signs. Early in the morning it is possible to take pictures of aircraft parked on the apron.

4Approach 27

The huge military area surrounding Karup air base makes it hard to find a good spot on the west side of the airfield. The military zone is a restricted area (skydeområder) so be careful not to get caught here. The only spot known outside this area with reasonable views of traffic on approach for runway 09 can be reached by entering Natovej, which borders the south side of the base. Turn right at the first legal opportunity where a farm can be found on the left, this road is still called Natovej. After passing the woods on your left, spot 4 can be found. You will find yourself more or less under the approach here, which is still fairly high.

5Museet Flyvestation Karup

The base museum can be found along road no.12, south of the main gate. The museum is open from 10am till 5pm in summer, and from 1pm till 4pm during the rest of the year, although closed in December and January. Entrance is free.
