Imperial Beach Naval Outlying Field (NOLF) is part of Naval Base Coronado, which NAS North Island also belongs to. The airfield is exclusively used by naval helicopters to train their crew and personnel with landing procedures and conduct training and practice operations
Imperial Beach NOLF is located 9 miles south of San Diego. If you're coming from San Diego, driving to the south on Highway 5, you should take exit 'Coronado Ave'. Follow this road towards the west (and will become Imperial Beach Ave). Turn left at Louden Lane St". This road will leads towards the basefence. Another possibility is when you're coming from the beachspot at NAS North Island. You have to keep following the coastalroad (Silver Strand Blvd) in southern direction. When the road bends to the left it will become highway 75. Take a right at 9th St, immediately after the bend. After just half a mile this road will cross Imperial Beach Ave. Turn right here and left on Louden Lane St (the fifth street on you left) as mentioned above.
This photo was taken from spot 1 when this SH-60 departed from runway 27. (Robert Verbrugge)
