Red Beach MCOLF are a couple of small airports along the Interstate 5 which are heavily used by the helicopters and Ospreys of MCAS Camp Pendleton and North Island NAS. Although access is limited, some advantage points are possible to spot and photography these fine aircraft. The Old Pacific Highway Trail east of the I-5 and west of the railroad was once used for F-35B exercise. It is best to work from north to south due to the long distances to turn back onto the I-5 Southbound.
From north to south are a helicopter deck, a small LHA deck, a large LHA deck and a small airport with helideck. East of the I-5 is a old road converted to runway which was used for F-35B exercises.
These airports are along the Interstate 5 from Los Angeles to San Diego. On the Southbound side are the needed exits.
