The Islamic Republic of Iran Army Aviation (IRIAA) operates a large number of AH-1J Cobra attack helicopters in many different camouflage patterns.

For heavy transport duties the CH-47C is still a workhorse for the IRIAA. Due to a lack of spares, a small number of Chinooks are still operational. Seen here is a CH-47C in a digital camouflage pattern.

The IRIAA still operates several CH-47C Chinooks from Isfahan Badr airbase. All CH-47Cs are kept airworthy by cannibalization of Chinooks which are stored or withdrawn from service.

The 5th Combat base operates from Mashhad, the Eastern border of Iran. Three helicopter battalions (AH-1J, AB214 and AB206) are based at Mashhad. The AB214s are fitted in a three tone camouflage scheme.

The IRIAA is organized along seven Combat Bases, spread over the country. Each Combat Base operates a Battalion of AB214s for light transport missions.

The AH-1J Cobra was supplied in large quantities to the IRIAA. Zahedan is the provisional home to some of these birds from Kerman.
