Hi all,

A log from 9-10-2009. Stayed there between 10:00 and 15:00 hours. Unfortunetaly the Saudi's didn't fly in the morning. Only 1 mission in the afternoon. Only 4 Alpha's flew in the morning. A surprise visit of a C-160Gabriel made up big time for the very quiet hours.
At noon a couple of Mirage 2000C's took off with a lone 2000B which didn't return. A half hour later another 2000C took off together with an Alpha Jet and the Saudi F-15C's (one C and the D remained on the ramp)! Around the same time also a Super Puma and supposedly a Caracal could be observed taking off. At 13:00 a CN-235 was unfriendly enough to use only the last half of the runway and therefor could only be watched from a distance away. A half hour later another 4 Alpha's took off.
Around 15:00 hours every aircraft had returned. Due to the French airbases being known not to be too active anymore at friday afternoons and the Saudíes supposed to be flying only one mission we left for the Savigny les Beaune museum. Later that afternoon still a lot of jetnoise could be heard from that museum.

Can anyone confirm the based Gendarmerie AS.350's are JCA & JCW?! JCA flew on thursday and JCW on friday if I'm correct.

Friday afternoon I read off JCQ from the civil terminal when it departed for a mission.

PS: How was your trip back north, did you make it to Ramstein in the traffic jam around Dijon and Metz?
I heard there was an unknown road blockade around Dijon, and we noticed some highway road blockades of mad farmers around Metz while driving up to Ramstein.

Further more all 6 Eagles departed early in nice autumn sunlight and clear blue skies, the last one at 8.53h LT.
Herc 472 came in from Greece, and Hercs 473 and 1623 departed. When we left around 14.00h LT, the HZ-128 and 472 where both still present. The HZ-128 not looking to depart real soon, would not surprise me if it will on Monday.

Does anyone know the true identity of the Mirage III at the Fire Station at the middle of the Base?
From my pictures I can vaguely distinguish a code being 4-HH but this one doesn't show in any book, nor does it show up in Scramble's database??

Are you talking about the Mirage IIIC (N°30) coded 2-EH is in front of the Museum...???

Correct, "CW" was the callsign, and also my photo shows vaguely JCW (very distant though). The day before I shot one which resembled the most like JCA, but no call heard then. I just wondered if these were based or visitors as several different serials have been given over the past few weeks and I can only guess they have no more than 2 choppers based here at any time. JCQ has been confirmed several times now, so this must be one of the based ones.

Traffic around Dijon was horrible. I'm not sure if it were farmers around Dijon causing the trouble, but we did see big smoke trails at two different sites on the route the soleil. Police closed down all ramps and exits leaving no other choice than to close in line and head through the city streets. We did take a peek at Metz but nothing here. Ramstein was pretty good (we arrived here around 15:45) and we even got some sunshine take-offs and landing shots.

Have no idea where the museum is but in the middle of the field, next to runway, there is a fire station, with a Mirage III parked in front... My picture shows code 4-HH although not 100% clear due to poor weather conditions

The 550 sported the 4-BH from EC 2/4 in 1989. Type was withdrawn short after that. So this could indeed indicate that it is the 550 being stored next to the fire station!
