Only Dübendorf is closed on that day. All other mil airports are active. Even Meiringen should be active although it is a holiday in the canton of Berne. http://www.vtg.admin.ch/de/organisation/luftwaffe/einsatz-lw/militaerflugplatz-meiringen.html But don't forget the reduced flight time on mondays ...
Wasn't the decision already made to retire them in 2016, regardless of wether the Gripen deal went ahead or not? Yes but the National Council and Council of States have decided to determine about the withdrawal of aircrafts, tanks etc. They refused to withdrawal the tigers and the defence departeme...
That's interesting because the swiss government said that they don't sell some tigers to Uruguay. The tigers of Switzerland remain in service until the decision of swiss parliament to disband the fleet. And they cannot fell a decision before 2017 or even 2018. The swiss defence department is critici...
For all I know all non-swiss participants will operate from Payerne AB. Emmen AB is the first alternate and the base for some participants of the program point "Tribute 100 years " Dübendorf is only the spare field (or at most the Ju52 and B17) and the employes from Meiringen and Sion will...
As you can see on the official schedule they fly from Sion. The repetition course is there. Payerne and Meiringen are only alternates. Tuesday is maybe the most active day with 2 (!) CAP's. The second is Montreux due to syria conference.
I'm planning a visit to Emmen around 21-8. Can you see the parked F-18's from out side the base ? If so, from wich location ? Rüeggisingerstrasse ? Yes you are right the access is from Rüeggisingerstrasse. The hornets are in the blue hangar beside the Patrouille Suisse Hunter. As far as I know, Emm...
I'm on Holiday near Meiringen this summer (27/7-10/8. However SIS says there is no fighter movement in the period I'm there, which is bad luck. As I can see this for more airbases in Switzerland, does that mean it's like this every year? Do they close the base for the summer or something or mainten...
This week there was much F-5 fighter activities at Emmen AB (I count 95 movements in 2 1/2 days). During the show on Axalp/Ebenfluh, the Saab 39 Gripen serial 39-7, startet from Emmen for his show and Prasentation to the Swiss people. In spite of the offers from Eurofighter its look like that this Plane is the favourite for the Swiss Air Force ?? And now I am waiting on the decision of the Dutc...
I wonder why there is no Axalp 2012 thread. However according the swiss aviation magazine "skynews" some Gripens will participate the 2012 Demo. I don't know yet how many jets will come or where they will be stationed. The second news is that Axalp 2014 will not take place...
