Hi Marco, Was at Venegono on 10th of july and we saw 4 MB-339's. We could read MM55072 and MM55079. Can you help me with the other 2 (I suspect MM55077 was one of them)? Thanks! Hi Lex, MB-339CD MM55077 was surely one of them, the fourth one I don’t know. Was it a Frecce Tricolori MB-339 by the way...
IRAN means Inspection Repair as Necessary, in other words, a major overhaul. Overhaul on the MB-339 takes usually over a year to complete and is being carried out after a certain amount of flight hours or years.
Hi Zonan, It is always nice to read when people take some effort to visit Venegono. I can provide you with the numbers of the four MB-339CD’s you have seen parked outside awaiting IRAN: MM55072/61-140 MM55077/61-145 MM55079/61-147 MM55081/61-151 The first three MB’s have been parked there since at l...
Hi Zonan, the T-346A is temporarely assigned to 311°Gruppo/RSV. We saw the same aircraft on the same day at Ghedi, arriving and departing with a ‘Spera’ callsign.
You are welcome! 213 Gruppo will continue to operate the MB-339CD for many years to come. Overhaul is still being carried out on the ‘CD’ by Leonardo at Venegono. 214 Gruppo is about to receive (again) the first T-345A’s to replace the final MB-339A’s still in service in the basic flight training ro...
Absolutely! The International Flight Training School is based here and nearly all T-346’s have moved here from Lecce-Galatina by now. Also, an Italian Air Force SAR unit is operating out of ‘Deci’ with their HH-139’s. You should have a good time on the island of Sardinia with plenty of M-346 activity.
Hello, some 9°Stormo HH-101A’s will operate out of Spangdahlem during the last two weeks of April. The exact number was not told to me but it is likely to be 2-4 helicopters.
Agree, nice images of a successful trip in the Alpine region. Could you tell the two AB-412s you have seen at Cafasse with an African destination, are former Guardia di Finanza? Two have already been delivered to Niger with another batch of two to follow soon. These might have been the ones you have...
Earlier today, two S-208M’s collided and crashed. One crashed in an open field while the other aircraft crashed in an urban area. Unfortunately, both pilots were killed while on the ground there are no casualties reported. The mid-air collision happened at Collefiorito di Guidonia, close to their ho...
Hi Joris, The AB-212 you have seen is MM81653/PS-94. It is the only AB-212 still in use by the Malpensa based unit. The P-68 is PS-A99. This Observer has been sold on auction a while ago, together with PS-A97 and PS-B01. The latter two have already been delivered to the new owner, PS-A99 is the last...
Two M-346 are being delivered to Deblin today, 7714 and 7715. Both departed Venegono at 08:45 and carried two underwing tanks to make a direct flight to Poland possible. The next two M-346, 7713 and 7716 will be assigned on Monday 8 August.
Thanks for the information. Apparently, it is still profitable to keep these “old ladies” in the air. Anyway, for Omega Aerial Refuelling Services the former KLu KDC-10s will be their first boom equipped tankers. They can now start offering their refuelling capability to the USAF. USTRANSCOM is alre...
Does this mean that “sistership” T-235 has also been sold to Omega Tankers which will use the aircraft as spares source for (ex) T-264 in the future? Or will T-235 end up being dismantled like former KLu DC-10 T-255 at Newquay for spares to be sold abroad?
