Formerly a 'green airfield', created in 1949 and with a 600 m grass runway for a long time, this airfield received a paved runway and taxiways in 2002 to enable aircraft up to 6000 kg to use it. In March 2014, it became Breda International Airport, meaning it has passenger handling and customs facilities. There is no air traffic control though, just flight information. This can be a busy place with all sorts of general aviation, including training aircraft, skydiving flights and the Flying Museum of Seppe.
The use of Breda in the name is somewhat confusing as that is not the nearest city (which is Roosendaal). For more confusion: the nearest village is Bosschenhoofd but the name used to be coupled to Hoeven, a village a bit further away. Breda/Seppe is the official name as per aeronautical publications. The airfield is closed for flights outside the daylight period.
The paved, more or less east-west, runway is 830 m long with a grass strip along two thirds of its southern edge. The latter is only for (historic) aircraft with a tail skid. North of the runway is the part that mostly already existed in the Seppe era. The south side is regarded as the Breda International part, built much later. More construction is going on, to expand what is called Seppe Airparc for aviation-related companies. Viewing is easy from the outside but for a closer look and photography near the hangars permission to go airside is needed. Inquiries can be made at the aerodrome office; expect an escort to be needed.
Driving here is easy, as Seppe is conveniently located along the A58 motorway between Roosendaal and Etten-Leur (and Breda). The exit to take is number 21 for Rucphen and Bosschenhoofd after which the field is signposted. For public transport, Buurtbus line 211 between Roosendaal and Oudenbosch can be used on weekdays. Get off in Bosschenhoofd, at the Beatrixstraat or St. Gerardushof, from where it is a 10-15 minute walk to spot 1. Of course, flying in is possible too, with most private planes.
Ron Frijlink caught the landing on runway 06 of the green version of one of the Pink Skyvans, from spot 3.
This M600, a highly advanced version of the Piper PA-46 Malibu, is a resident since 2021 and was also photographed from spot 4, by Berend Jan Floor.
