Located on the northern half of the island of Texel, this is one of the busiest general aviation airfields in the Netherlands. Especially during the summer, the field gets really busy with parajumpers and visiting aircraft. In the past, Texel has hosted the Texel Airshow, even with fighter jets like the Harrier and L-39 participating from the grass runway. Texel is the island closest to Den Helder.
The area is flat and generally green, and the airfield itself is no exception. All the hangars are located near the airport building so everything can easily be seen.
As could be expected, getting here involves taking a boat or an airplane. Ferries leave Den Helder harbour for Texel at regular intervals. From the harbour at Texel, you can either take a bus, rent a bike or drive the car you ferried. The airport lies north of Den Burg, next to Zuid-Eierland.
