1Overview
Coming from Sleaford, you will pass the airfield on you right-hand side. When passing the 09-runway, there is a small lay-by on the right side of the road. Although not officially a parking space, this spot gives a good overview of the ramps. Aircraft on the ramps can be read off with a good telescope.
2Cranwell Avenue
Coming from spot 1 alongside the A17, take the first road to the right. This is Cranwell Avenue. This spot offers views of the ramps from the other side. Although the view is obscured by hangars, this just might be the right angle for that last serial.
3Runway 27
Follow Cranwell Avenue a bit further and take the first road to the right. This road, which will lead you back to the A17, passes the runway 27 threshold. From this place, pictures of landing aircraft can be made with 200 mm. Taxi and take-off shots are possible too with about 300 mm if you position yourself at the low fence on the other side of the road. You can park near the entrance of a private road, but keep this road clear. If you walk to the north, you will have a good view of the Tutor apron.
4Tutor Ramp
Following the road a little bit further, you will have a better view of the Tutor ramp. Not ideal for pictures, but good for reading off serials.
5DCAE Ramp
Along the road returning to the A17, there is this last spot near a gate. From here you have a view of the apron of the DCAE and sometimes aircraft are parked outside there. Also, you will be able to identify the Dominie XS710/O on the dump.
6Gate Guard
This is the position of the preserved Jet Provost and Dominie, which are positioned along Cranwell Avenue, along some accessible roads but on military grounds. Do not park next to the aircraft but on the main road.
