As part of Operation Inherent Resolve, the military intervention against ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant), the Aeronautica Militare (ItAF, Italian Air Force) Panavia Tornados have flown 4000 hours the skies of Iraq and Kuwait and recognized 5000 targets by their high-definition onboard sensors. The Italian Tornados, belonging to the Ghedi Air Force based 6° Stormo (Wing) “Alfredo Fusco” have been operating in Kuwait as part of Task Group “Devil”.

The SIAI Marchetti S208M was already selected as a general purpose liaison aircraft during 1967, following a request for proposals for a new glider tug. The survivors are still used a such with the 60° Stormo at the military airport at Guidonia near Rome. In June 2020, the Aeronautica Militare honored the famous aviator Arturo Ferrarin and celebrated the raid Rome-Tokio made in 1920 on board a SVA9 aircraft. The Aeronautica Militare has identified a requirement for around 45 T-345A training aircraft to progressively replace its fleet of 137 Aermacchi MB339s, that have been in service since 1982. The T-345A is also destined to become the new platform of Italy’s National Aerobatic Team (Pattuglia Acrobatica Nazionale (PAN), also known as Frecce Tricolori.

The M-346 is designed for the main role of lead-in fighter trainer, in which aircraft’s performance and capabilities are used to deliver pilot training for the latest generation of combat fighter aircraft. The Italian Air Forces uses the military designation T-346A for these aircraft.

The Alenia C-27J Spartan is a military transport aircraft developed and manufactured by Leonardo's Aircraft Division. It is an advanced derivative of Alenia Aeronautica's earlier G.222 equipped with the engines and various other systems also used on the larger Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules.
