The SyAAF used to operate several squadrons with the Su-22 'Fitter'. Their status in November 2024 remains unclear but it is very likely that none is serviceable anymore.

The main training base of the SyAAF (Rasin El Aboud/Aleppo East/Kweres) is home to the fleet of L-39s.

3rd FTS moved temporary to Nayrab AB (Aleppo) in 2018 but has since moved back.

If 3rd FTS is subordinate to 77th Air Training Brigade is not confirmed.

In the mid-70's the SyAAF received 58 Siat 223 trainers that were built in Sevilla (Spain) and Grenchen (Switzerland). 3rd FTS and 4th FTS still operated the type in November 2024, albeit in a different livery.

The MiG-25 fleet is completely centered at Tiyas since 2009. 7 Squadron that used to operate the MiG-25PD/PU/RB here was disbanded.

The Su-22 in all versions have seen heavy action in the recent battles against the Free Syrian Army and other forces opposing the Assad regime, like ISIS and many others.
